Oil & Gas Executive Office

This project included the addition and renovation of an office building in a rural community in North Texas. The business owner hired the architect and decorator separately and Axis Construction provided the construction services.

The addition included a large executive office suite with a private bathroom and exercise room. The ceiling was vaulted and exposed ridge and rafter beams were created from reclaimed white oak. The doorways in the addition were uniquely installed to have the wallboard return to the door frame with a rounded return. This subtle change eliminated the door casing and made the style more southwestern. The gable ends of the large office were accented with a dry-stack stone wall and custom-finished pecky cypress T&G paneling.

All floors were reclaimed white oak wide planks that were hand-scraped and matte-finished. Tile floors were large format slate. Custom cabinet built-ins and reception counters were dark stained knotty alder with raised panels. Grid ceilings were replaced with new and other specialty ceilings were retrofitted with exposed conventional framing with cross bracing and T&G V-groove beadboard on the ceiling surface. Other unique items included the custom-made white oak sliding barn-style doors and exterior accents to perfectly match with the existing building construction.
